Description
This route still includes the attractive section through the Dams to Darnley Country Park of Bartho1 but takes a more direct route from the M77 underpass to Thornliebank (unfortunatley along pavements beside main roads) avoiding the awkward crossing of the Auldhouse Burn via the very poor path between Kilmuir Crescent and Spiersbridge Avenue

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

22 Sep 2024We walked this route in mid-September from Thornliebank to Barrhead. The first section of the route follows alongside busy roads, which isn’t particularly scenic but has pavements for safety. Once the route moves under the M77 it turns into quiet residential housing, which is much more pleasant and peaceful to walk through. At the Brock Burn river the route takes a clear path around the housing and lovely views as it appears Barrhead. A straight-forward route with options for stops and refreshments at either end.

19 Sep 2024Walked on a dry morning in September going east to west. The opening stretch along roads is not particularly inspiring but the pavement is good and the route is safe. As the other review has said, the portion past the housing is much more pleasant and all in all it is a good route for joining the two nodes. There are plenty of options for refreshment at both ends of the walk, and they link well with other onward travel options.

18 Sep 2024I walked this route in September 2024, heading from Thornliebank to Barrhead. The first half runs along busy roads, although there is pavement the whole way so doesn't put walkers at risk. Once you pass under the M77, you turn into quiet residential housing and the route improves significantly. At the Brock Burn river, the path takes a clear track around the housing, with lots of greenery and lovely long views approaching Barrhead.
