However, if you follow the road around, you'll soon join back up with the route. When you first get to Llantrisant, the route shown on the GPX does not exist, so you'll have to take a more circuitous route via Lowerdale Drive....

The footpath leading from the lane crossing Llantrisant common takes a sharp right hand turn just before Llwynau Farm. After crossing the bridge over Nant Muchudd near Treferig Isha Farm, the path goes through a lovely stretch of woodland next to the Muchudd stream. Walk this routeFirstly, the path from the road across the common starts out well enough with a track and a sign for the Penrhys Pilgrimage Way route, but it`s a dead end. There looks to be a better route following the Penrhys Pilgrimage Way all the way from Llantrisant to the edge of Tonyrefail (with hindsight, it looks like the sign on Llantrisant Common, mentioned above, had been turned around !)....

The path from Ty Nant Road to the bridge over the River Taff was blocked due to some development and has been for a few months1 Not sure if this is a temporary closure or not, but there is an alternative road looping round to re-join the path near the Taff bridge. The first path out of PSE by the church is actually a stream (Photo 1), but it was passable with boots with a bit of stone and log hopping. From the old Llantrisant streets and the church and then the short trip down the steep and stony path over the moor into Talbot Green....

Just after leaving Creigiau, the footpath sign off the road on the left is quite obscured (I missed it first time!) - go past the house on the right hand side of the road and then look for the sign and gate on your left (see pictures). If walking in the other direction (from Cardiff), the footpath to leave Pentyrch comes off the road just before the school playground/school building....

This route is accurate, and a more interesting way to walk into Llantrisant from Talbot Green than by using the main road. The final ascent into town is very steep....

This 2.5km route has been walked in 34 minutes going from Llantrisant Bull Ring to the Beddau/Tynant sign at the bus stop. The walk was done in good weather in June 2021. Underfoot conditions were excellent....
