There is a good footpath alongside the road, but the road does need to be crossed just before the castle to stay on the pavement and then recrossed just after and then crossed again to join the footpath heading south to the old railway route. I give this route 4 stars because of the road crossings at Burleigh Castle....

A pretty urban and unremarkable walk - Kinross kind of blends into Milnathort - but it is very straightforward and a good link....

From Kelty, there is not really a walkable path - were walking along the side of B roads as the path has been built over at different points....

This is one road from Kinross into Milnathort - very walkable and safe....

But there are lots of issues with the part from Kelty to Kinross - the route no longer exists so you're forced onto the road. It's be a lot nicer to walk around Loch Leven for longer too. I wouldn't recommend this walk as it currently is....

It's a very walkable, relatively quiet road between the town and village (or is this also a town?), with a bit of a meandering back path in-between. Not overly exciting but a reliable link up!...

We eventually arrived at a farm to the right of Loch Fitty (Lochend Farm), and made our way through the following field. The walk takes you well around the right edge of Loch Fitty, at which point we decided to reroute, veering to the left hand path along a walkway over the loch, which I'd recommend. Before we knew, we had left Loch Leven emerging out into the carpark of a cashmere factory having barely seen Loch Leven at all, which we had been looking forward to. I imagine there would have been a lot nicer - albeit slightly longer - to have walked around the right hand side of the loch, so we'd actually be in proximity to the water for much longer....

The final section of the walk is on a main road into Kinross, however there is a pavement to walk on and the time spent on this section is quite short....

The road section at Crook of Devon can be avoided by sticking to an off road track that takes you to Peat gate....
