A nice route, a little tricky to navigate at times, but with group conferences and map support it was possible. Lovely views at Wenlock Edge, crossing pasture, and woodland. Big and panoramic sensory landscapes – a delight to explore....
Beth Môrafon
It's a pretty east route to follow with well-trodden paths, good signs, quiet (mostly) roads and any stiles are in really good condition (April 2024)....
Nick Blakeway
A long, boggy hike after days of rain, through agricultural land and country lanes with lots of stiles sitting in water. However an exhilarating and elemental route. Pubs in Dorrington....

The bridleway, fields, hollow ways and lanes before getting to Marshbrook; the back of Marshbrook village; the rise up to the top of the hill after Marshbrook where an old drover's way goes past a spring (boggy); architectural and horticultural clues to a previous country estate just before Craven Arms; The Church at Halford. Liked the up and down varied route and walking through or past oaks, some 100s of years old....
J Mitchell
Particularly enjoyed the back route into Craven Arms along the river through what appeared to be old estate grounds, Halford is an interesting old hamlet too....

I've driven, cycled and taken the train between Church Stretton and Shrewsbury hundreds of times, but have never walked it. Leaving Shrewsbury on a very wet day the old village of Meole Brace looked, on foot, as it must have in Mary Webb's Day....

There's a lane from the village of Wettles onward and a clearly marked left turn from Lower Lane through a farm yard, then left again along the edges of fields over the railway track and back over the A49 - again, care needed. After crossing the footbridge to your left look out for another to the right, cross that and continue following the course of the Quinny. The path takes you through a woodland and open fields before you pass through the hamlet of Halford, the church here has a beautiful churchyard with views over Craven Arms....
C Hanson
A long and beautiful walk through varied countryside along a route that, although skirting the A49 for much of the way, often feels a million miles from the road....
C Hanson
Did this route from Church Stretton Station, over the Long Mynd to Stiperstones and camped near Snailbeach....
Eddie Jones
After crossing the railway line (after leaving Leebotwood) and then a small stream, the route is poorly waymarked and a detour along the road around Brook House Farm was required - and one of the stiles is also quite overgrown....
Nick Blakeway
Nice mixture of paths and lanes to Cardington that is easy to follow. Might be easier for some to lane walk from Cardington to Willstone and follow the bridleway from there....
Eddie Jones
The route leaves Church Stretton taking in the beautiful views up the hills and across the valleys, very scenic with lovely off-road route. The route as far as Dorrington is dog friendly, however there are lot of styles on the second part....
SEB
All paths existed and were navigable, and the route was fairly direct between Church Stretton and Craven Arms with minimal time spent on roads. Leaving Church Stretton there is some time spent on roads, including one busy crossing, to get out of town but you are soon into countryside....
