Latest Updates
This walk follows the Usk Valley Walk for several miles and then follows lanes and fields on the way into Raglan. At Pant-y-Goitre Bridge (Photo 4) there is a stretch along the road and lanes for a mile or so, before re-joining the River Usk. The path then permanently leaves the Usk Valley Walk and passes through the National Trust`s Clytha estate and the Folly (Photo 5). Photo 5 - The Folly at the National Trust Clytha estate...

A fine walk through fields and lanes, and then through the lovely Lady Hill and Goats woods about a mile or so north of Usk town. Not always easy to follow the footpaths through the fields, but worth persevering with....

1) Between Castle Farm (near Raglan Castle) and Cuckoo's Row there's a house at the end of the track from the farm. On the OS map the path follows the track to the house, but actually you need to go through a gate into the field south of the house. The next 2 fields are cultivated; it may be easier to follow the tractor tracks - head towards the trees/houses to the east. This path is marked at both ends.....

Also, when you get to Gwehelog, the path is blocked by a gate covered in barbed wire so a pleasant detour through the village is required....

Leaving Raglan, the walk was mainly through fields but as you approach Usk you pass through some lovely woodland areas....
