As Main Dyke opened up to go under the A585 there is a lot of construction work going on here, so I needed to take a detour around these by crossing the A585, walking along it for about a hundred yards then doubling back onto Old Mains lane and then heading down towards the River Wyre estuary. So I had to turn back and take a detour along the A585 and across the bridge. I actually couldn’t find the footpath off Sower Carr lane and had to take the final detour of the day back on to the main road and through into Stalmine....

Walk this routeThis route cannot be walked at the moment, because the level crossing, on leaving Poulton-le-Fylde, is currently closed. The notice shows that it may be reopened in July 2023, but it looked like a long term closure. Also, the route is rather lazily plotted so I have tidied this up in PouEls Two....

The road from Singleton to Thistleton is long and tedious, with fast cars and a very narrow pavement. Some footpaths lead to the Elswick meeting point, but there is a nice food pub on the main road before that....

Walk this routeIt crosses Stanley Park which is an excellent park with an Art Deco café, gardens and a boating lake, which the route crosses over two wide bridges. The route is slightly let down by a wide kissing gate into the new housing estate, otherwise I think the whole route would have been pretty easy to wheel. The route weaves through pleasant housing and then through Normoss, where there are various facilities, and fields on one side of the road....

This route has several inaccessible sections around Layton and College from grid reference 325370 to 331374. I made a detour and have uploaded and reviewed BlaPou Two as the alternative....

Walk this routeThis route goes around the north of St Mary’s Catholic Academy on a track, and then there are more residential streets, and then a track alongside a drainage channel and a fenced field of horses....

At the end of the fenced path, the golf course is reached, where the footpath signposting is also not that obvious. GPS on OS Maps app helped me to find the exit from the golf course onto the main road....
