The route leaves the wood too early and it's better to stay on the woodland path and leave at Baglan Heights, then head down past the primary school at Blaenbaglan....

From the Pontardawe end the first impassable section is where the farm has hostile signage and no clear route to the right of way at the intersection between the unmade path and the lane at Primrose lane....

Then shortly after, turn L onto a by-way, which is used extensively by 4x4 vehicles, so although dry(ish), very rutted, rocky narrow track. After turning L, down towards Crynant, following the St Illtyds Walk, found I lost the marked route, but may have been me!...

Only one unpaved section, along the canal from Jersey Marine to Port Tenant and you could follow the route of the cycle path alongside the main road as an alternative if needed....

Significantly slower starting at the Port Talbort end because it climbs right up Mynydd Dinas to the national coast path along the top - there are other paths lower down along the side of the hill which all meet up. There is one odd detour through a the housing at Baglan instead of the waymarked Coast Path route through the same estate. This part of the route was completely new to me and is def a way I would routinely use as an alternative to the canal path which is my current usually walking route into Neath....
