Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

25 Jul 2021Not sure if this route has actually been walked. A few problems with it. After walking along a section of the A4109, busy with no paths, I found no trace of the bridleway SE to the B4242. Shown, underneath powerlines, impossible to use! Back down the main road, and L onto B2424. No sign at other end either. Then shortly after, turn L onto a by-way, which is used extensively by 4x4 vehicles, so although dry(ish), very rutted, rocky narrow track. No vehicles using it, but wouldn't like to meet them at some points! Good views when up on the hill, before entering the forest. After turning L, down towards Crynant, following the St Illtyds Walk, found I lost the marked route, but may have been me! Again used by 4x4s, so rutted, and deep long puddles to avoid, even in a dry spell. Anyway, walk back into the village enjoyable, and bus back to Neath.
Good walk though, but perhaps not a Slow Way!.
