Help connect Swansea

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Swansea’s Slow Ways.

Nice to pass Blackpill Lido - anyone doing this route on a hot day, don't miss the free lido - perfect for a wade around in the shallows and an ice cream from the kiosk....

Hannah

Walk this route

It mostly follows a dismantled railway line that snakes through nature reserves and woods, including Clyne Wood....

There's a solid, flatish easy route from Swansea to Pontardawe along the 43 cycle path. But ignore the detours and follow the cycle path!...

I started from the Swansea end and the Gorseinon-Fforestfach stretch starts promisingly but has waymarkers lost is a sea of undergrowth and I lost the path entirely after they disappeared and had to turn back....

Walk this route

We were lucky enough to have amazing weather so we were able to do the walk safely. Some parts of the walk could be made easier and there are also parts where it's not accurate on the map. Many stys to cross over and the final leg of the walk has cycling and walking lanes....

STEPPERS UK

Walk this route

Takes a slightly odd detour up to to Amazon roundabout and another through the Bay campus rather than sticking to the main road and there's a lot of time spent on the cycle path that runs parallel to the dual carriageway at the Swansea end which is easy and fast on wheels but mildly unappealing on foot - for this stretch the route offered on the Swanea route along the canal path is nicer for the Port Tenant to Briton Ferry stretch....

leiafee

Walk this route

Only one unpaved section, along the canal from Jersey Marine to Port Tenant and you could follow the route of the cycle path alongside the main road as an alternative if needed....
