Help connect Minster
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Minster’s Slow Ways.

You can walk on the edge of the field, but be aware that this is not a real path. I would not class it as dangerous simply because you can technically walk on the field edge, only that you should take care. Later on walking across the field past the Manston Road pumping station (in the direction of Minster) part of the field is currently planted up with rape seed. The route officially ends at the church, but it is a short walk further down the road to the train station if you need it....

Walked from Sandwich to Minster on a grey Sunday and then back again from Cliffsend from Minster on a wet weekday afternoon. Shortly after a turn onto a quieter road the path went off-road again on a bike path beside Stonelees Nature Reserve, which is shorter than staying on the ECP here. When you reach Cliffsend the route turns away from the coast through the village, passing a stone cross with celtic style carvings and then along a footpath and farm tracks to Minster. Fast food chains and groceries beside the large roads near Sandwich, 3 cafes beween the turn off from those roads and the turn into Cliffsend village, plus public toilets at the PBCP cafe....

Walked from Cliffsend to Minster on a Sunday late afternoon then Minster to Cliffsend (again) and on to Ramsgate on a wet weekday afternoon. The farm tracks from Minster had no vehicles, just a runner and a few dog walkers near Minster on both walks combined. There were a couple of stiles at the level crossing near Minster and some of the farm tracks and footpaths are a little uneven underfoot and a little muddy in the rain....

The new MinSan route is about 2km longer but is quieter, goes through Pegwell Bay Country Park (which has reedbeds, small lakes and gorgeous views across the bay. I could only leave this note on this route by adding a review, but as I didn't actually walk it the review shouldn't count towards verification....

Quite odd leaving Minster as you follow along the road before heading along a very strange concrete footpath through an industrial estate, but once you're out into the fields it's quite a beautiful walk and very easy to follow. There was a somewhat scary road crossing around Minster Road, but we were walking around rush hour and I can't imagine there is a better route. All in all, a very efficient and fairly pleasant route....
ShortLegsLongWalk
This route is quite straightforward, almost entirely flat and following well trodden/well maintained paths. There was a potential routing issue around Pluck's Gutter, but this may well have been a fault with our navigation skills!...

Nice shortish route, bringing you through some nice fields etc....

Great walk, taking you through some beautiful areas. Some parts overgrown with nettles so I'd recommend trousers!...

the route is easy to follow and the section from Canterbury toGrove Ferry is very pretty. The path from plucks gutter along the river side towards Minster is overgrown and you have to push thru a bit. the section thru the nature reserve at Stodmarsh has quite a few gates that are not suitable for bikes...

Once you leave the road and pick up the path along the cliffs the view is stunning and again nice clear paths. just south of the path where it leaves the Sandwich road and heads east towards the cliffs there is a cafe on the grass that is open during the day and serves simple food and drinks....

Good routes, mainly following the River Stour and much of it along the Stour Valley walk. Practically all of the route is off road and the countryside is pleasant. Rail service back to Canterbury from Minster....
