Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

18 Jan 2024 (edited 10 Feb 2024)The Ramsgate to Sandwich Slow Way needs a new route because it follows the England Coast Path along a public right of way that the public apparently don't have the right to use. I'm suggesting that this route also be replaced although there's nothing seriously wrong with it. If the three Ramsgate/ Sandwich/ Minster routes overlap, you could walking just 20km/12mi and be able to review all three which is a theoretical distance of twice that - 33km/21mi. If you are lucky with timings you could get a bus or train to save retracing your steps between Minster and Cliffsend, very few trains actually stop at both Minster and Thanet Parkway despite how close together they are.
The new MinSan route is about 2km longer but is quieter, goes through Pegwell Bay Country Park (which has reedbeds, small lakes and gorgeous views across the bay. It also passes a few cafes and public toilets in the country park car park.
I could only leave this note on this route by adding a review, but as I didn't actually walk it the review shouldn't count towards verification. I'm rating it as Maybe (would recommend) although there is only a very inaccuracy where it suggests you walk along the A256 for a while from the roundabout with Jutes Lane. Having looked from the other side of the road it's probably fairly clear that is a terrible idea, but there isn't actually a pavement on Jutes Lane so people might look to the mapped line to find a path. The parts overlapping with MinSan 2, which I did test, had a lot of walking beside or close to busy roads, this version has even more of that than MinSan 2 as Jutes Lane runs so close to the A256.
