Apart from that this walk is still fine and slightly shorter but follows the main Rd from Burford to Carterton for a while so isn't that nice on that section....

A nice walk avoiding any major roads through the beautiful village of Shilton which is the location of the dog and duck pub from Downton Abbey. The rose and crown pub is a great half way stop. The walk is usually not too muddy unless the has been a recent downpour and the countryside path are very well marked....

The 1.5 miles from Carterton to Brize Norton was not enjoyable, following main roads. St Britius church at Brize Norton (C12/13) may be of interest but is only open on Sundays. The footpaths from Brize Norton to Curbridge were mainly lacking signage....

I agree with the previous comments - an enjoyable and interesting walk, flat with no stiles. On the day we walked the whole route was dry underfoot. Also the firing range at RAF Brize Norton was in use, so for some of the walk you could hear that....

Avoid using the B road between Shilton and Carterton as it is a fairly busy road with no footpath and the grass verges are very narrow. The section of the walk between Burford and Shilton is lovely. See Burcar Two which follows this route between Burford and Shilton and has an alternate route between Shilton and Carterton....

Mud paths and a stone step style make this not totally accessible. Generally well signposted footpaths....

It's definitely a walk of two halves: starting from Carterton the route winds through suburban streets, and then hugs the fence of RAF Brize Norton, so there'll definitely be something for aircraft enthuiasts....

Mix of trail and road and airfield perimeter track Safe and quiet Water meadow at Bampton end can be flooded...
