Description
Lovely walk with no stiles, no stock in the fields, easy going footpaths and pretty scenery. Alternate version to Burcar One providing a safe alternate route between Shilton and Carterton off the main road. Only downside is the way markers are not always easy to find or are missing altogether, so it is recommended that you carry a map. There are refreshments at both ends of the walk and Shilton village, which is very picturesque, also has a pub (but check for opening times). There's a bus between Burford and Carterton and parking at both ends so it is possible to do this walk in one direction

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

27 Dec 2023A nice walk avoiding any major roads through the beautiful village of Shilton which is the location of the dog and duck pub from Downton Abbey. The rose and crown pub is a great half way stop. The walk is usually not too muddy unless the has been a recent downpour and the countryside path are very well marked.
