Taking you from Coseley along footpaths onto the Canal branch then joining the Birmingham Canal , which was a nice walk even in the rain. I took a slight detour and carried on the canal to view Coseley tunnel which is good to see. Overall a good walk and interesting which i would do again....

From Wolverhampton train station, cross the tram tracks then follow the blue cycle signs under the road signed towpath towards Birmingham. You have to walk along the pavement at the top of the ring road, then use the pedestrian crossing and you’ll see the canal. You come off after going under Millfileds Bridge which is the main road you walk along....

I completed this walk yesterday travelling east from Bilston....

At 1.77 miles, it's amongst the shorter slow ways available....

It's a really good route which takes in a lot of industrial heritage along the towpath....
Steve Litchfield
It takes in the Birmingham Canal and the Bradley Arm for the majority of it, with the small amount of street walking safe....

I'm not sure I took the correct path to cross the major road below, there is a well used path across the middle but there may also be pavements around the edge, the plot is no help. Turning off it's still a pavement alongside a road that crosses the railway at the site of Willenhall station under construction....

Urban walk all on tarmac, safe road crossings. From the bus station at Darlaston this route starts with a crossing of the main road but soon enters a quiet street which leads into a wide surfaced footpath at Sydney Cottages then along the back of houses....
Ken
Mostly very safe, but the crossing of the roundabout over the Keyway could be a challenge at busy times....

The most interesting and remarkable section is The Black Country Sculpture Route which runs away from but parallel to the A463....

There are a set of steps from the towpath to the footpath into Bilston which can not be avoided without a major change in the route so it's not wheelchair friendly....

David Sanderson added Bilwed two, a new walk from Bilston to Wednesbury
Walk this routeLeaving the canal to get to the meeting place at Wolverhampton Railway Station involves a brief bit of pavement pounding and a couple of easy crossings but it is worth noting that the location of the meeting place takes you away from the stops, shops, eateries and pubs of Wolverhampton other than the Costa, the cafe and the shop at the station....

David Sanderson added Wolbil two, a new walk from Wolverhampton to Bilston
Walk this routeA peaceful wildlife filled stroll along the Birmingham Canal, then along a spur and then a footpath and cycleway direct to Bilston....
David Sanderson
From Bilston, joining the canal the route tells you to join in the wrong direction and actually encourages you to cross to the wrong side of what is actually quite a busy road....

After leaving Bilston and passing the football ground, the route follow the black country route for a while (on a parallel footpath) and then turns toward Darlaston and passes George Rose Park before taking a footpath enclosed by houses on both sides. At the top of this path its just a short walk into Darlaston town centre. The walk is suitable for all weathers and both towns have plenty of places for refreshments and have particularly interesting older parts....

It isn't possible to cross the canal at the location shown, an alternative is to turn right at the junction of Cannon Drive and Anvil Crescent, before turning left on Rainbow Street to join the canal at Highfields Road....

This route looks ok on paper, however my personal knowledge highlights a problem, the route shown joins the Canal at Anvil Crescent. This is fine if you want to swim across the Canal (I wouldn't advise it though) There is no Towpath on this side of the canal....
