Help connect Wareham

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Wareham’s Slow Ways.

Tanya Hart added Warpoo two, a new walk from Wareham to Poole

Walk this route

The road walking from Wareham to Upton is fairly unavoidable, but the uninteresting urban road route from Upton to Poole can be avoided by re-routing round the east side of Holes Bay, which I've suggested in warpoo two. Alternatively if you wanted to go via Hamworthy you could follow the Castleman trailway from Upton into Upton Country Park, continue through the park to Symes Road, then round the west shore of Holes Bay to Twin Sails bridge, with short sections on quiet backstreets to avoid muddy bits....

I walked the section from Upton to Poole, which is an easy scenic walk with good shoreline views....

Be prepared that several sections, which are not part of established 'paths' (e.g. Coastal Path or Hardy Way), have no visible path (and you may be the one-in-a-month walker)....

The section from Corfe Castle to Swanage is quite hilly and can be windy! It is rarely muddy except in a few sections. The route is clearly signposted....
