Walk this routeThe track here was mainly hard surface and led to a road through housing, under the railway and a straight footpath to the railway station and the end of the walk....
Jeanne Hetherington
The route takes you under the train line and then finishes at the train station in Saltburn....
Rosemary McNulty
There are a few steep bits, and one gravelly part by the fields that may make it a little trickier, but overall a good route and better then the roads....

Walk this routeThis is a popular local walk and follows the Cleveland Way from Saltburn to Skelton (although most people actually walk the Cleveland Way in the opposite direction). The path then climbs out of the gorge, where there are some steps, and around a field before crossing Skelton Bypass via an underpass. You walk up past a beck between houses onto Bowland Road. However, if you turn left along Bowland Road, and follow the road uphill keeping the building site on your right, you will reach the Hillside Medical Centre - walk past this and then take the second left (Derwent Road) which is back on the Cleveland Way and leads you uphill to the High Street....

Turn left at the junction and head uphill along Saltburn Road. After crossing a small piece of waste ground the route comes out again onto a residential road, and again you turn right and soon come back onto Saltburn Road, which is busy at this point but there is a pavement and then a path on the verge. At last you turn left on a bridleway labelled for Saltburn Gill Nature Reserve. And then suddenly you reach the water treatment plant at the bottom of the Gill, and come to the road. If not, there are steps just to the left of the Seaview which are off the road and take you up to the top lift station. So in conclusion this is a lovely walk; although there is a lot of pavement walking at the start, the views are lovely in this section, and then Saltburn Gill is a total contrast....
Kate Harvie
The path through the allotments at the start (walking from Saltburn) is used by walkers and cyclists and is a designated bridleway. The route would be possible for wheelchairs but quite tough going back to Saltburn from Marske as it is a slow climb most of the way....
Pixie45
This is a popular path mainly used by folk walking down to Saltburn’s beautiful beach or to work in the town....
