Help connect Pocklington
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Pocklington’s Slow Ways.

First part of the route from Market Weighton to Londesborough is nice, if a little over grown in places (but partly that’s just the time of year)....

A straightforward route, nearly all on tarmac (country roads). Easy to follow, with care only needed when navigating through the arable fields near Barmby Moor, which I found somewhat overgrown due to the time of year. A good route for someone wanting to cover the miles, though perhaps a little dull for those who like a bit more variation....

You come to a road and walk up the road for about 75m before branching right continuing across fields on another well defined track, going slightly up hill. From here you follow the road to a crossroads, go across and head to Burnby. In summary an easy walk through fields and gates , moving to road walking after Londesborough....

The walk from Market Weighton takes you along the regular footpath through the town and then turn right as you leave the town on the public footpath up to Londesborough. The public footpath does go across the busy main road so you need to be careful crossing this. The walk from Burnby to Pocklington is on the road which is significantly busier than the other road elements of the walk but there is a grass verge....

For field '1' from the end of flat lane to black dike it was at the time of this review overgrown - follow the ditch on the right and at its end cross the middle of the field following the crop boundaries (if in season) and black dike can be identified by the treeline and field converging in the corner....
Alex
There was a small portion of the route that required crossing a field with deep furrows, so probably not ideal for wheelchairs, buggies etc., otherwise should be accessible to most people....

Sandra added Pocmar two, a new walk from Pocklington to Market Weighton
Walk this routeAlthough I haven’t walked the full route from Pocklington to Market Weighton the section from Partridge Hall Farm in a SE direction to Londesborough then to Market Weighton is a pleasant, well marked route on good paths across farmland and through part of the Londesborough Estate with a short section of road walking. Londesborough has an interesting church but no pubs or cafes. Take care when crossing the A164....
