Cross over the road going past the Metro Station then join a track which follws the line of the railway line. Then take a left turn crossing another road and follow the path signed as a cycle path to Brockley Whins. At the end of the bridge I had to make a decision whether to walk down the side of the A19 and join up with the original route at the railway line or continue straight on and join the original route further on....

You cross over a busy road then walk through a nice village before going through parts of Washington. The next section was along a very busy flat road section which then took you via a footbridge over the A19....

A good alternative to the given route at 388589 is to continue northward along the road and branch off at 387592 to follow the right of way until you reach the track at 382601 and then turn West to rejoin the original route at 377599– or make use of some of the many paths within Fulwell Quarry....
