Quite rough and muddy in parts and sometimes positively dangerous in snow and ice during winter....

It is a very quiet and attractive walk which connects Appleby to the Pennine Way at Dufton. Finally the path close to Appleby has a barbed wire topped metal gate across it. A minor detour to Appleby railway station provides access to WCs....

Some bog and bushwhacking, but this was all forgotten with a lovely swim swim at Lazonby....

This was another beautiful walk through low moorland with good views of the Pennines, although quite hard going at points as the path is not always clear and some bush-wacking had to happen....

Shortly after there is a bridge crossing a small river (either the Firth Beck or the Morton Beck) which felt slightly dangerous and as if it might fall down....

As you come into Lazonby there is a great swimming spot in the River Eden which was much need after this long route....

A lovely walk through farmland and woodland to dufton which a beautiful little village. I would recommend booking into the pub to eat there as we ended a long day with no food and the pub was fully booked. Its a beautiful spot tho with the garden looking onto dufton pike...
