Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Beautiful woodland section with some ups and downs. What a way to end in the pretty village of Dufton, book the pub for grub!.

This was a really beautiful walk through farmland from Appleby to Dufton, but at Hungriggs Lane the gate to go through was locked up with chains. Luckily there was a footpath running near it in the right direction so we had to take that instead. Shortly after there is a bridge crossing a small river (either the Firth Beck or the Morton Beck) which felt slightly dangerous and as if it might fall down. Some of the planks had already fallen - it was crossable if each person went one at a time but it felt as if it would not last much longer and that might cause some problems in the future. It is still a walk that's definitely worth doing so if you're feeling adventurous don't let the bridge stop you!.

A lovely walk through farmland and woodland to dufton which a beautiful little village. I would recommend booking into the pub to eat there as we ended a long day with no food and the pub was fully booked. Its a beautiful spot tho with the garden looking onto dufton pike.
