Latest Updates
After I started I discovered the waymarks for the community rail trail which takes this more attractive route through the park and cemetery. Note that there is a substantial set of stairs down to the path beside the railway but looking again at the map there should be a relatively easy way to avoid these....

Towards Bolton, we leave the path and cross below the railway line (by means of a ramp or steps) onto residential streets towards the town centre....
