Help connect Belmont
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Belmont’s Slow Ways.

Mr Neil Hartley added Chobel two, a new walk from Chorley to Belmont
Walk this routeBeyond the motorway the route shown turns left off the quiet road and heads through woods that can become a bit misleading and will get muddy. Steep climb up the road and then back onto a good sheep track at the very top of the road....
Mr Neil Hartley
A stunning walking over the moors and on a clear day you can see for miles. A well marked routed...
Jon Bowen
The views over the town of Darwen are superb but unfortunately the route fails to capture the iconic Jubilee Tower – you cannot even see the landmark for most of the walk. ‘Beldar two’ uses the alternative moorland tracks which take you directly past the tower (with no extra distance or time)....

Starting at the picturesque hamlet of White Coppice, the route passes over the Anglezarke Moors and down to Belmont via fairly well-defined paths which are easy to navigate. There’s a quite steep ascent into the hills. It’s a quiet route with quirky points of interest and the views in all directions are stunning, taking in Healey Nab, Darwen Tower and Winter Hill....

Personally I would go right to the bottom of Spitlers Edge (the slabs crossing the moor) to the 'car bay' and round the road to the style on the left side of Rivington Road, not far at all, as the path through the moor grass from the slabs to the style is not a path!....
