Description
Follows the existing route from Lostock station pretty much but when you reach the end of the Middlebrook Valley trail go under the railway track, follow Spa Road on to Deansgate until you get to Mcdonalds. Then walk through the Town Square and up Newport Street to the train station.
This avoids the busier main roads in the town centre and part of the existing route is now closed off along the side of Pikes Lane Primary School

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

11 Feb 2024Cycled from Lostock to Bolton (on a road bike).
The majority of this route is along a well surfaced "shared" path, running alongside Middle Brook. This path is popular with pedestrians and dog walkers, so if cycling, be prepared for progress to be at a more sedate pace.
Towards Bolton, we leave the path and cross below the railway line (by means of a ramp or steps) onto residential streets towards the town centre.
Once in the town centre, it became necessary to dismount due to pedestrianised areas, but this didn't cause any problems.
This was suitable for two wheels, and would be ideal for most wheelchair users and those with prams.
