Latest Updates
A beautiful walk along well maintained paths through native Caledonian Forest, with the Strathspey Railway for occasional company on the first section. Good facilities at Boat of Garten at the halfway point, and then a pleasant onward wark to Carrbridge. As a previous reviewer said, some alternative off-road routes on the approach to Carrbridge are readily available and signed....

I walked this route from Aviemore on a warm sunny day and it was a delight. Cycle route 7 leads you west to the main road at Deshar school, where you leave the traffic behind going up the farm lane opposite....

This route largely follows the Speyside Way national trail and it is well maintained and signposted. Here the routes diverge and I followed this Slow Way for a short stretch along the road, rather than following the Speyside Way detour up the hill....

On leaving Aviemore, it takes a peculiar route through housing when a better route would follow the Speyside Way out of town....

Very little on roads, some feels very quiet as it takes you into the depths of the Abernethy pine forest. Path in general very good and well maintained, muddy in places....

It becomes a landrover track beyond Derry Lodge and the passes through the lovely Marr Lodge Estage and uses the Victoria Bridge to get across the River Dee....
