Help connect Anstruther

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Anstruther’s Slow Ways.

Walk this route

Beautiful views of the Isle of May and Firth of Forth dominate the first sections, before turning inland for walk through peaceful farmland. The last section is a sometimes tricky up and down along the Coast Path again, with views over St Andrews towards Tentsmuir. The section before turning down into Kingsbarns is along an old railway line and is absolutely beautiful. Turning off to Kingsbarns the path is a little overgrown (see pictures) and can be rough in places under the grass. After heading though Kingsbarns, before heading down onto the Coast Path again there is another section along a busy road. The final section is along the Coast Path and has beautiful views of rock formations and the West Sands at St Andrews....

Easy to walk route following the Fife Coast Path between Pittenweem and Anstruther. Going is easy underfoot, and nice and flat along this section. As a previous reviewer mentioned this would be difficult for someone requiring a wheelchair due to the presence of some styles along the way....
