Help connect Troon
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Troon’s Slow Ways.

Review of Slow Ways route Tropre one (Troon to Prestwick). The remainder of the route is via tracks through Prestwick Golf Course (I followed the adjacent dune path here to enjoy the views) with a final section along pavements to the town centre....

Beautiful walk along the beach from Troon to Irvine. Easy going and possible at high tide. Sandy underfoot....

I'm joining the other two reviewers to recommend this as a fantastic Slow Ways route. Portions of it follow dune paths that might not be suitable for all users. Overall this route is scenic, direct, accessible by transit and features many amenities....

If you get too distracted by the beauty of this stretch of coast you'll end up at the mouth of the very wide burn that cuts through the beach which is impassable (unless you fancy swimming)....

The section of the route from Colennan to Dundonald is particularly nice and is part of the official Smugglers Trail walk which runs from South Beach through Fullerton Woods and the vilage of Loans before merging with this route....

A lovely coastal walk partly on the beach and partly over the sand dunes. Great views of Ailsa Craig and Arran. Lots of wildlife....

Beautiful walk, mainly on a sandy beach with stunning views to Arran. Not really suitable for wheelchair users which is why I have given it 4 stars instead of 5. Train station at either end and lots of excellent places to eat....
