Latest Updates

Probably the toughest stretch of the WHW, path is fairly rough and boulder-strewn, the last section between Inversnaid and the northern end of the loch was a bit of a slog, but we started from Balmaha to be fair so quite a long day....

However at the very start there is some bad marsh land which really slowed us down and makes it quite a tough start....

Conic Hill is a big climb but worth it (even on a very misty day) and Balmaha is a great place to stop for coffee and/or lunch....

It’s a beautiful walk following the loch but pretty tricky at times. Lots of ups and downs and uneven terrain. It’s still really lush, especially when you happen upon little booths selling snacks for hikers!...

Recent washout in July has meant that some sections are very difficult indeed with paths and bridges washed away and there is a lot of ascent and decent on slippery rocks and routes. The Loch side section from Rowardennan to the hotel at Inversnaid can be avoided by taking an upper track but there are still slippery and difficult sections to get to the hotel....

Conic hill was a highlight! Then down into the pub in Balmaha. Would definitely walk again!...
