Latest Updates
It explains why there is a footpath over the hill leading to the river here, and why the house here is called Penybont (end of the bridge), but it's not a bridge now and the footpath up the hill to the south wasn't evident on the ground - a crumbly stile was the only clue. We walked along the main road to join up what we hope will work for a newly minted Macmal three....

Glantwymyn to Mallwyd is straight and easy, walking on the valley road on the other side of the river to the A-road....

Also if breaking this long route, there is a good campsite behind Pandy station....

This route uses the Macmal2 route at the Machynlleth end and the section to and from Mallwyd is along the lovely minor road following The river Dovey upstream, crossing near the village of Glantwymyn....

The route shown is on a bridleway, which may be more suitable on horse-back but not suitable for a slowway....

Walk this routeNice route, not too difficult but some sections very much off road, through fields and unmaintained paths. Muddy and steep in places, and some sheep which we tried not to disturb too much! There was one section where the path left the road about 100 yards earlier than the route indicated and dog-legged around a field rather than going straight, but it was well signposted as Glyndŵr's Way so not too confusing....
