Help connect Ingleton
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Ingleton’s Slow Ways.

This is a very nice route but when I walked it from Ingleton to Bentham today, I needed the OS map to navigate as there were very few route markers other than spotting a stile in the distance....

I started from Ribblehead and was soon walking underneath the fantastic Ribblehead Viaduct. The views all around were great, as I made my way across the sheep moorland, with Ingleborough looming to my left most of the way, and views back to Ribblehead Viaduct for about half the route. There were several shake holes and pot holes close to the path; the limestone landscape was fascinating....

Initially the route is well signposted and trodden, climbing through fields. Ditto for Parr Bank, where you need to go on to the last farmyard to access the fields again (this is probably the obvious route in the opposite direction)....

At the right-angle near Warth House, the stile I’ve marked with a pink cross is broken and blocked and there is no trodden path here....

From Clapham to Ingleton you can hear traffic noise from the A65, but it is fairly easy to shut out, as the countryside is still lovely. There are good refreshment opportunities at Feizor (Elaine’s Tea Rooms), Austwick (Game Cock pub), Clapham (several options), and on the A65 just west of Newby (Goat Gap Café)....

Loved walking this route. Far better than driving....

Most of the route is along dry stone walls and fields with grazing cows and sheep....
