Latest Updates
Walking through the golf course at the beginning looked a bit off-putting (there are 'private' signs) but it's definitely open for walkers and I didn't need to avoid any golf balls!! As another reviewer mentioned, there is a tricky road crossing at New Battle Viaduct - it's better to walk further up the road and come back along the other side to avoid the fast blind bend....

The only challenging part is crossing the road at Lothian Bridge, which is a fast road on a bend....

It's only about 1km without any defined path, but an OS map (or the app) and knowledge of contour lines makes it easier/possible. Once you pick up the path again, it's easy walking al the way. There's a very steep way down directly at the edge of the bridge, but it's really steep....

All in all it's a very pleasant walk on a nice day with a great opportunity to take in views of Cockpen Church, Dalhousie Castle and open fields heading towards Gorebridge....

There is a cafe in Vogrie Country Park ( Tree Top Cafe) which is usually open weekends and school holidays (maybe other times too) half mile from route and signposted from entrance to Vogrie CP...
