Help connect Eyemouth
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Eyemouth’s Slow Ways.

An excellent walk, although I agree that it should be split into two or more segments, with a break at Cockburnspath....

A lovely route, mainly grassy paths along the top of the cliffs following the signs of the Coast Path....

Muddy in places, but it was winter, and nothing good walking shoes won't cope with....

There are limited places to stop en route, although the hotel at Marshall Meadows and the First and Last Inn at Upper Burnmouth weren't far from the route (and both may be featured in Eyeber one)....

Walk this routeGenerally, the walk between Dunbar and Cockburnspath is pretty flat, but the remainder, between Cockburnspath and Eyemouth includes regular ups and downs, and is the prettier part of the route....

Because this Slow Ways route is so long (26 miles) and it follows the Berwickshire Coastal Path alignment, I recommend splitting the route at Cockburnspath so there are two Slow Ways routes: Eyemouth to Cockburnspath and Cockburnspath to Dunbar....

I agree with the other two reviewers...this route is an absolutely stunning coastal walk. Agree that the route should be modified to start in Berwick-Upon-Tweed town centre and should follow the signposted coastal route. I think this route should be verified as part of the official Slow Ways network....
hikebikescotland
The first is at Marshall Meadows where it takes a diversion to Marshall Meadows Country House and the second is at Burnmouth where it goes into Upper Burnmouth for some reason and also the route doesn't accurately follow the signposts. Also, coming into Eyemouth, the route takes you into the golf club after crossing the road whereas the signposted route is right and past Eyemouth FC football ground....

The only accessible sections are a few margin field tracks, a couple of minor road sections, then as you enter Coldingham then via the established coastal path back to Eyemouth. After this, there are multiple gates, fences, barbed wire and electric fences across mainly fields and field margins. Sadly this has been overgrown by grass, meaning we had to follow deer tracks through the field....

We walked the section from Dunbar as far as Cove (near Cockburnspath.) The walk is beautiful but has one big issue - the chunk at the beginning of the route that skirts around the edge of the golf course is stressful!!...

I was staying at Berwick on Tweed and it is easy to take the bus to Eyemouth (or farther) and walk the trail back....
