There are some beautiful stretches on this walk, notably Greenhall Park and the walk along the Clyde....

For example, much of Stoneymeadow Road has a path parallel to it, a bit muddy but away from the traffic. (You'll find it just after the 'Cyclists rejoin carriageway' sign). And after crossing the East Kilbride Expressway on leaving Blantyre, there is an unexpected section through a green park....

Much of it is beside busy dual carriageway, which has to be crossed a couple of times - worth using the controlled crossings. Lovely stretch through Kirkhill golf course with views over the city....

A good bit of road walking, but on quiet back roads - no traffic problems....

The route then drops downhill and under an overpass to join Stoneymeadow road. However care is required again at the major road intersection between the East Kilbride Expressway and High Blantyre Road / Main Street. Immediately after this, the route requires the busy Main Street to be crossed. However Stoneymeadow Road is far from ideal as a walking route (although not too bad for cyclists)....

The crossing is shown as an aspirational core path on the South Lanarkshire Core Paths Plan of 2012 on Map 10 Calderwood Hillhouse, but it’s not clear whether it was ever built....
