Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Colwyn Bay’s Slow Ways.

As mentioned by previous reviews this was a lovely walk with lots of coastal views and some variations in terrain through woods with some occasional road walking. As Mary mentions, the route through the woods avoids some relatively dangerous stretches of road. Overall a very pleasant route which makes for a lovely day out which I would happily walk again....

Because of proximity to the coast (and because of not studying the map in advance!) I expected to be looking out north over Llandudno and the sea, but actually views were all to the southwest and south east as we climbed and then descended....
Hannah
This route is a little sloppy in its plotting, but in general it is clear where you are meant to walk. We walked this route in the late afternoon, starting from Llandudno Junction, which made for some nice views in the low sunshine of late winter....
Mary Oz
An easy walk, mainly tarmac or promenade. Part of North Wales Coast path and National Cycle route...
Howard White
A really easy and enjoyable route which was great for bringing the dog along as the path is fenced and away from the road. Nice views of the coastline and amenities available on route, bus route runs along side the route so can be used as an alternative if needed....

Got caught in a squall when I walked this two weeks ago but took shelter in the very welcoming Castle View cafe just west of Abergele....
Graeme Storey
I only walked about half of this route, from Llanddulas to Old Colwyn, but I have walked all the way from Abergele to Colwyn Bay a couple of times previously....
Paddy Dillon
Almost a very good route, let down a little by the plotting of the route out of Colwyn Bay (you can't take that straight line across the A55) and unnecessary detours at each end. I walked 90% of it but used the shorter COLABE 2 routes out of Colwyn Bay and into Abergele. I will add a more detailed review with pictures there....
Hugh Hudson
An easy direct route, entirely on the surfaced coast path/cycle track apart from a little pavement walking at either end. In Pensarn the track follows the side of the road through a holiday park, and a shortcut path takes us up to the bridges over the railway and the A55....

Hugh Hudson added Colabe two, a new walk from Colwyn Bay to Abergele
Walk this routeBeyond the wood we follow the right hand edge of two fields (ignoring two better trodden paths), then head left across more fields and right along a farm track (I presume this is a right of way, there are no private notices. We come to a busy road which has a path through the left hand verge, then go right, passing the Queens Head pub. We go right again at the T junction then left up through fields and through a farm yard, then down steeply on a slightly awkward narrow paths with steps and head high thorns....
