Help connect Bearsden
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of Bearsden’s Slow Ways.

For this specific reason, I am actually minded to recommend the route – to encourage others to use it (albeit with due care, for the reasons given). I would recommend the route (but for walkers only), with the warning that there are several muddy sections, several rather lonely sections and one steep/overgrown section (specified above)....

Although I walked this route a closely as possible, I don't recommend it in it's present state! Descending into Drumry, down steps to the dual carriageway, the route has us crossing the road at the roundabout....

At its end, a long road walk to the crossroads, where we enter Lennox Park, but there are no good nearby crossings (there are some on the junctions just over 100m north and south). Whilst Lennox Park has good tarmac paths, there are steps up to the path that leads to Milngavie station, the end point....

Walked from Bearsden to Kelvindale Station on a hot summer’s day. I think this is less likely to happen if walking direction from Kelvindale towards Bearsden. The short section without a pavement at Kelvindale - the road is wide enough for cars to give walkers some space; I walked facing the oncoming traffic and it was fine as these things go, all the drivers saw me and gave me space....

Access - some steps at Lennox park (Milngavie), and a steep section at Kilmardinny Loch....

Once the road has been crossed, the route enters Dawsholm Park and follows a straight path all the way to the park’s southeast corner....

This is a simple and pleasant route which links these two population centres on the north edge of Glasgow and makes excellent use of three large green spaces along the way. After a pleasant meander through the park, the route heads through another housing estate and back into another green space, this time the grassy corridor bordering the Craigdhu Burn (with the scent of Hawthorn flowers hanging in the air when I visited in May 2022)....

The route seemed quite direct but actually walking it there were a couple of points where corners could have been cut off to make the route a bit shorter. It was easy to follow the route. There are some sections of road walking with good pavements....
