Walked 30/08/2023 and there were some paths completely overgrown but with a walking app it was easy to take a short detour. The sections on roads were quiet and interesting to walk through the villages....

The route takes you out of Dorchester along tree lined residential avenues, and as soon as you leave town the view is dominated by the immense Maiden Castle, an iron age hill Fort. The route has been plotted along the field edge, but there is a well maintained wide path through the crops, so that's a minor plotting error. I missed one gate at Portesham Hill, as the route isn't quite aligned with the footpath there....

It is hilly but as it follows the MacMillan Way for the entire route, it is clearly signed and well maintained....

On Fleet Common Close to Chickerell, the route goes across a field, but the path has been diverted around the edge of the field. There is a pub in Langton Herring roughly half way through the walk....

The most difficult section when I walked was between the fish farm and Lower Sturthill, so overgrown that I wasn't entirely sure where the path was....

It is a beautiful countryside route, only on paved roads at the very beginning and the final kilometers....

There are numerous stiles and on the day I walked there were cows in several fields. Extensive views over Chesil Beach....
