Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

20 Apr 2024 (edited 21 Apr 2024)I walked some of this route from Wellingborough to Rushden, and investigated all of the possible paths south from Irthlingborough Road. The only one that is walkable is the old railway, and even that is unsignposted and probably not a right of way. A shame because most of the route is good. I have submitted WelRus two, which addresses this problem and uses greener routes at both ends.

09 Nov 2023A better - quieter, shorter and safer - start to this walk would be to use the Greenway that connects Rushden High Street with Rushden Lakes. Once into Rushden Lakes the walk is surrounded by greenery and water until the outskirts of Wellingborough. Some of the paths are narrow and can be muddy so probably only suitable for a serious off-road cyclist. The longest middle part of the walk merits four stars but the fairly heavy traffic at key crossing points detracts.

15 Apr 2024I am looking at doing this route in the next few weeks, but it appears to go straight through a lake/gravel pit near where the Ise meets the Nene. I can see that the right of way used to go that way but is it really possible? I will be tempted to submit a replotted version, and in that case I may use your suggestion of using the Greenway.
