Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

18 Aug 2023This is a very pleasant walk from the iron railway bridge near Thames Lodge Hotel to Chertsey Lock. Plenty of space to walk along the tow path. Lots of water fowl tospot. Worth a little diversion to walk around the island at Penton Hook Lock.
The tow path narrows a lot once past Laleham but you can always walk on the road - if you take notice of the passing occasional cars. There are picnic bench's near the Camping club site if you want to stop off, or you could wait until you get to Chertsey Lock and go to The Kingfisher pub. It has indoor and outdoor seating and dinning. Across Chertsey Bridge is The Bridge Hotel. Members of the public are permitted to use the toilets there.

26 Jul 2023Lovely walk along the river with gorgeous views. Fairly tame and calm, just a few road sections and all of the difficulties that come with them.

01 Jun 2021I live along the route on the river. The towpath part is delightful with loads of wildlife from kingfishers to cormorants. At the end of the riverside part is a lovely pub, the Kingfisher. The road part is, well, a road part.
