27 Apr 2024 (edited 28 Apr 2024)Walked from Sharnbrook to Bromham. Mostly straightforward and easy to follow, but there are a few steps, stiles, uneven ground and one very muddy section south east of Pavenham where the path nearest the river is best avoided due to deep boggy mud!
I just lost a detailed description of this route to the dreaded error 500, which I won't attempt to reproduce.
The problem muddy section is through a small wood north of the bridge over the side stream that comes down from The Spinney. From the north the path closest to the river looks well trodden, but it crosses two areas of deep bog, and it is much easier to take a higher line through the trees, which is still pretty muddy but has no sucking bogs. The other point to note is that the bridle path north of Pavenham has been diverted to take a higher line west of Hill Barn. I had no problems navigating the golf course, but it is probably trickier in the other direction. The odd-looking doubleback in Pavenham is justified by a pub, and the fact that the pavement on the north side of High Street is on a raised grass bank which makes the direct crossing to Mill Lane trickier.

11 Jul 2021A lovely rural walk, passing the Stevington windmill, church and holy well. This also passes through the quiet villages of Pavenham and Radwell. This walk is mostly through farmland, arable and pastureland alongside the River Great Ouse. However there is a particularly boggy section of path as you approach Pavenham from Stevington. There is a small amount of walking on quiet village roads. This route also crosses and then follows the edge of the Pavenham golf course, however this section is not very well signed. The section through the Pinchmill Islands, crossing the river is particularly picturesque.
