Description
This route from Oxshott to Ashtead starts by using pavement along the A244. On entering Prince's Coverts it uses concessionary tracks, some of which become a slippery muddy mess following rain. These lead to a very badly surfaced lane which reaches the A243 at The Star pub. Crossing the main road you then follow Ashtead Commons Concessionary Ride 1 to the edge of Ashtead near the railway station. There is then more pavement walking to finish

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

13 Jan 2024Generally a nice route, but exceedingly muddy. Definitely weather-dependent - would not recommend when it's been raining recently. Paths well-marked and easy to naigate. No stiles to climb over, just a couple of kissing gates. One busy road to cross, but with a traffic island. One short stretch (lane by the Old Star pub) felt a little unwelcoming, but mostly attractive woodland.
