Description
This is an alternative route between Newcastle Central Station and Four Lane Ends Interchange. The objective of this route was to make the most of Newcastle Quayside, Ouseburn and Jesmond Dene. It takes in restaurants, bars and artwork along the Newcastle Quayside and the lower reaches of the Ouse Burn. There has been a lot of regeneration in these former industrial and commercial areas. A climb out of the valley takes you through some woodland and a park before descending into the beautiful woodland along the burn and through the beautiful Jesmond Dene. A futher climb takes you past a hospital and then along what was an old Waggon Way before walking along streets to Four Lane Ends. This is a really nice walk which is full of interest

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.
