Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

03 May 2024Apart from the steps / bridge over the railway line at the end of Merton Hall Road, the part on the line path near Wimbledon station has some steps so not great for bikes / wheels. Instead of going along Merton Hall Road you would be better off going along Dundonald Road, then Hartfield Crescent to Wimbledon station.

01 Apr 2024I walked from Wimbledon to Motspur Park.
Warning. "Due to construction works for the Motspur Park station Access For All Scheme, the Ticket Office will be closed from Friday 19th May until Spring 2024".
And there is no access into the station from the East side which is where the Slow Ways node is. This is only temporary, but still there on 31/3/24. See pictures.
Agree with the other reviewers this is a varied and pleasant walk through passage ways, leafy suburbs, and some green spaces. Good paths but some steps. A good route which I enjoyed.

14 Mar 2022I went from Wimbledon to Motspur Park and really enjoyed this route. I personally love walking along railways, and this has a good bit of a well maintained path after leaving WImbledon station. You do have to walk up and down steps to cross the bridge, and there are no alternative access points for this at this point (I'm not sure if there are other ways across at other bridges). I've not been here in the dark, so I'm not sure how much activity occurs here in the darker hours, but when I was here in mid morning it was fairly busy. The way through Cannon Hill Common is really beautiful and a great place to wander around if you've got some extra time to take in nature. Joseph Hood Recreation Ground will also have some seating areas if you need to sit.

23 Aug 2021I walked this in August 2021 from Wimbledon to Motspur Park. It was fairly pleasant is it involved some tree-lined paths in wooded areas. Most of it, though, was on pavements. The railway bridge crossing could be a problem for some due to the steps involved.
The Earl Beatty provided a refreshment stop and toilets.

20 Aug 2021Lovely walk, direct route but through some conservation area I haven’t seen before. There’s Cannon Hill park and John Innes park nearby if you want a pleasant detour.
