Help connect Motspur Park

Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.

Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.

Give a hike and help get a for every one of Motspur Park’s Slow Ways.

An enjoyable route along mainly quiet roads and a couple of spots which are nearly countryside!...

"Due to construction works for the Motspur Park station Access For All Scheme, the Ticket Office will be closed from Friday 19th May until Spring 2024". After crossing the river more suburban streets lead to the Tolworth roundabout which will be quite nice when complete....

Didn’t much like the look of Kinmot One which is direct, but all along busy roads, so I sounded out this alternative -imo it’s a good combo of reasonably direct, pleasant residential areas, footpaths, and picks up an intermediate railway station at Berrylands…. A whimsical connection: Fulham FC training ground by the Beverley Brook at Motspur Park - and the main ground is by the Thames just where the Brook comes out....

It’s a decent urban route, easy to follow....

As others said the narrow lane no path section is hair raising - too much so for me - so carried on the signposted London Loop taking Royal Avenue rather than Barrow Road and rejoined at the Toby Jug. Added about an extra 0.5 km. I'm going to walk it in reverse from Tolworth and see what happens...

I've added Ewemot 2 to correct the route through Nonsuch Park and the roads after Cuddington Recreation Ground. All other parts of the route the same as Ewemot 1. Toilets and café available in Nonsuch Mansion....

Interesting bits - gas holders near Motspur Park, ponds at The Hamptons just off the path, a long wall of graffiti (the path here is called pig farm alley on some maps), the brook, and a road named for it - just here the water disappears from sight but can be heard on the path beyond the road....

Walk this route

In general this walk has a nice green section by the Hogsmill parallel to Worcester Park Road, some nice art at Tolworth, and some interest at Motspur Park (Fulham FC training ground)....

Luke Reader

Walk this route

An enjoyable walk that will take you through quiet corridors and footpaths and also green spaces between the two destinations. If the cemetery is open, it is a lovely part of the route, but beware that it is shared between pedestrians and drivers. One of my favourite parts was the path through Morden Hall Park....

The route along the Hogsmill River off Old Malden Lane is inaccessible so follow Old Malden Lane (which has no footpath) until the Toby Carvery and turn off there....

A bigger problem was not being able to find a footpath alongside the Hogsmill River between Barrow Hill and the Toby Jug pub.which meant walking on a main road, Church Road B284, with no footpath or grass verges to safely walk. The Hogsmill River Trail website offers an alternative route between St John’s Church and the Toby Jug pub https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0006/98547/ES-Hogsmill-River-Trail-Part-One.pdf....

This is a wholly urban route (any greener alternative would require a significant detour). It is on pavement beside busy roads. This is a very efficient and direct, if not pretty, way to walk from Motspur park to Kingston....

Coming from St Helier towards Motspur Park the way through from Arthur Road to Marina Avenue is between house numbers 18 and 20, and comes out on Marina Avenue between 19 and 21....

After Cuddington Park, the route suggests there are paths between Sandringham Road, Braemar Road & Hobart Road - these are private back-alleys, not open the the public....

I suggest to continue on Marina Avenue to the playing field at the end, then half-left to the gateway out of the park to pick up the path from Arthur Road....
