Description
Walk between these two beautiful historic towns along the beautiful Wye Valley. This route follows the Welsh side of the river mostly using the Wye Valley Way. The 69 bus connects Monmouth and Chepstow (40 mins). The route combines walking along the river, through woodland and up high towards the end to get views across Chepstow - taking in Cleddon Falls and Tintern Abbey. The view from the Eagles Nest is well worth the walk with an incredible view across the Lancault peninsula, cliffs, Chepstow and its castle, the estuary, River Severn and both bridges across to the hills near Bath ! Plenty of places to stop and get food and drink - Tintern Abbey is usually very busy. However most of this walk is very quiet and peaceful
