Description

Enjoy beautiful Welsh countryside between two small spa towns (Llanwrtyd Wells the smallest town in Great Britain - apparently) and also a real sense of wild and remoteness even in a rural area. This route basically uses the Heart Of Wales Trail. This is based around the Heart of Wales rail line so you get the bonus of public transport between the two towns, a tried and tested route and one that is fairly well marked and maintained. It's possible to break this into a shorter walk by using the station at Cynghordy. There are some great river sections, a fantastic viaduct, and great views across rolling countryside. If starting at Llandovery remember its up all the way - the climb into Crychan Forest is particularly steep and long climb. Although the Heart of Wales trail does use some country lanes do not worry about traffic there is hardly any up in the hills. There are some boggy sections and stiles

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.
