Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

11 Apr 2024Another good short Slow Ways easy to follow.
Taking you from Coseley along footpaths onto the Canal branch then joining the Birmingham Canal , which was a nice walk even in the rain.
I took a slight detour and carried on the canal to view Coseley tunnel which is good to see.
Overall a good walk and interesting which i would do again.

28 Dec 2023 (edited 12 Jan 2024)I walked this route yesterday from Coseley. It's a really good walk, which at only 2.4 miles long is quite short. It takes in the Birmingham Canal and the Bradley Arm for the majority of it, with the small amount of street walking safe. The busy Black Country Route at Bilston is noisy but has a safe pelican crossing to get across. There are some steps when you leave the Bradley Arm of the canal onto Dudley Street, but no other accessibility issues.

21 Oct 2022A really nice walk which I started from Coseley. It's a really good use of the canal network. A peaceful wildlife filled stroll along the Birmingham Canal, then along a spur and then a footpath and cycleway direct to Bilston. It's safe, reasonably direct and interesting. The only fly in the ointment is the plotting which in places doesn't actually line up with the footpaths. However, it doesn't mislead as the footpaths are so well marked and the way so obvious, I was never lost. Accessible and short. Definitely the route I'd take again.
