Help connect St Clears
Many Slow Ways have several route options. Some will be better than others, or good for different reasons.
Our goal is for each Slow Way to have at least one route that is verified and surveyed. To be verified – and get its snail badge – a route needs at least three positive reviews.
Give a hike and help get a for every one of St Clears’s Slow Ways.

Latest Updates
Routing around Laugharne is fine but safer options exist around the A40 section at St Clears. Would recommend following the A4066 from the Coast Path up into the town and over the A40....

Along a track until it heads left to Is-Coed farm, and our path turns the other way and goes through a metal gate, footpath width, into the woods to the right. It's a lovely stretch up the hill here, to a farm called Great Pale, and then out the other side diagonally across some fields on a track with barbed wire strands on both sides but no fencing - bit unusual, but makes navigation easy! Follow the route line closely here - where it emerges onto a track you need to cross right over the track and head into the scrubby corner. Wettest over the far side where the path takes you to a gate but not through it - this gate is surrounded by liquid mud of indeterminate depth, and I had to climb along the gate and then the fence to get down to the bottom corner - if I did it again I'd walk a straighter line from the entry point to the exit point and avoid my mission impossible style clinging to gate and fence. A big tree has come down at the mouth of the next bit of track, smashing up a farm gate beneath it. Where the path through the woods rises up up up and then down down down, there's a forestry track that stays on the level that you could easily opt for instead if you're getting tired, but the one marked is nice, and there's evidence by this point of it being walked....

We ended up following the river a long way down until eventually finding a bridge across, and cutting cross country to eventually rejoin the route just east of Whitland (214 156). Made it past Trevaughan farm without any problems, but can't recommend the route at present!...

The town really added something special to the experience, and I’d recommend this route to anyone who enjoys combining nature with a bit of town exploration....

Mostly flat and mostly natural except around 10 minutes of walking by the A40 but felt safe the whole way and there is walking and cycle routes....
Kiani Perera
Especially arriving to Carmarthen felt really special since it is a very mystical and beautiful town, with a castle and lots of spiritual shops....
Tarah
We had done a route previously like this and had dogs chasing us so we turned around and did most of the route by Google Maps....
Tarah
Continuing onwards up a quiet road the route links with the Wales Coast Path, which offers an alternative route out of Laugharne....
