Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

12 Sep 2024I agree, this route was very straightforward and easy to navigate. It’s mostly flat, except for a few gentle hills near Carmarthen, and I felt safe the entire way, even when crossing the A40. I especially loved Carmarthen itself—it’s a fantastic town to explore after your walk, with plenty of sights, shops, and things to do. The town really added something special to the experience, and I’d recommend this route to anyone who enjoys combining nature with a bit of town exploration. The mix of rural and town made it a well-rounded and enjoyable trail!.

11 Aug 2024Loved Carmarthen and would recommend visiting this town. Great if you want to stop and explore a town after your walk, with lots to do and see. I found the walk easy and straightforward. Mostly flat and mostly natural except around 10 minutes of walking by the A40 but felt safe the whole way and there is walking and cycle routes.

05 Aug 2024We really enjoyed the route from St Clears to Carmarthen. Especially arriving to Carmarthen felt really special since it is a very mystical and beautiful town, with a castle and lots of spiritual shops. The route takes you down lots of winding country roads where we barely saw any people or cars. Very peaceful and natural. Briefly it took us down an underpass to cross the A40 but it leads you back into nature quickly. Some stunning views when you get to Carmarthen (just before you get to Johnstown) and some hills too! Worth exploring the town of Carmarthen. Overall, a really enjoyable route.
