This route follows residential roads and footpaths and was generally good. There was one section where the route of the footpath is not clear - see alternative in the photos....

When walked in November 2024 it was also slippery with fallen leaves and partially blocked by fallen trees in some places....

The majority of this route is well waymarked, especially the section which forms part of the Rossendale Way....

It uses a well signposted national cycle route and is largely off-road making good use of an old railway track through a very pleasant section of woodland and across the impressive Lumb viaduct....

Walk this routeA great little walk up over the hills, maybe a detour to the nearby Halo Panopticam could be added? I walk this way regularly. Path is easy to navigate....

Although a nice route the first half misses the obvious way along the old railway line which is much firmer underfoot. This route is really only suitable after a long dry spell....
