When I got to Cawdor the plan was to visit the castle, enjoy the refreshments, and catch a bus back to Nairn. The refreshments I did enjoy, but I was informed the buses are for schoolchildren only, so I skipped the castle and walked back to Nairn....

This is an easy to navigate and relatively flat route that starts in Inverness centre, and travels through some suburban areas before taking in a couple of long trails through forests, then ending on the main road for the last three-and-a-half miles. The last bit on the road, taking up about a quarter of the route, led to me taking off a couple of stars and not verifying this Slow Way....
