Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

17 Jul 2024A really enjoyable walk.
Starting at the historic Wymondham cross and walking through Wymondham was the easy bit.
Having crossed the A11, finished ‘Burnthouse Ln’, we went onto Silfield street, but it became very difficult to spot where the public footpath took you off the main road and onto the fields. This bit was poorly signposted & the route was blocked by overgrown stinging nettles.
Once finally bashing our way through the nettles, it was then on to walking through fields and farm land, with varying ease of what route to follow. Some paths/farms were easy to navigate with good signage, well maintained footbridges and clear pathways, whilst other footpaths were neglected and required some searching to see where the route to the next field would take us. The highlight being a well established footpath through Ashwellthorpe woods.
After Ashwellthorpe the route got even trickier, a couple of signposts were knocked down. The route was scenic but there were a couple of v muddy farm tracks to cross where farm animals had been (ps don’t anger the Cows!).
Once near Long Stratton there was no path & we had to walk along Swan Lane with a blind bend.
I’ve highlighted some of the trickier bits, but overall was a great walk with varying routes (paths, roads, footpaths, bridges, farmland). It’s a long walk crossing many farms, so if it’s raining wear appropriate footwear!.
